Munich, August 31, 2016 (bsh) – What does consumer experience mean for the home appliance sector on its path from analog products to digital solutions and on to cognitive assistants? This is the key question in this year's IFA opening keynote by Dr. Karsten Ottenberg, CEO of BSH Hausgeräte GmbH. Home Connect – the cross-brand digital ecosystem
The BSH brands will be presenting the fully connected kitchen at IFA 2016. Their portfolio of smart home appliances has now been completed with cooktops and extractor hoods that can be controlled using the Home Connect app. A further highlight is Home Connect's new and attractive partner network. The network offers users added value in two areas: Firstly, by providing access to various online services designed for everyday life, and, secondly, access to other smart home solutions.
A new partner of the Bosch brand, for example, is the Berlin-based company HelloFresh. Romy Lindenberg, Managing Director for Germany and Austria, sees the newly formed partnership as an exciting supplement for many customers: "HelloFresh stands for simple and intuitive cooking of delicious and healthy dishes. We want to give people a little free time in their everyday lives and have listened to the ideas of our customers. By integrating the oven control from the Home Connect app in our popular cooking app, cooking at home has been made even faster and simpler for many customers. We look forward to successful collaboration with BSH."
The Home Connect Developer Program allows all supplementary products or services to be integrated via an API (application programming interface) or SDK (software development kit). This means added convenience for consumers since they can thus also control the connected home appliances from other apps.
As a result, Home Connect is continuing to evolve at an increasing pace into one of the leading platforms in the home appliances industry, which develops user-centered solutions with real added value for consumers. Home Connect is currently the only cross-brand app that can be used to control the entire range of connected home appliances.
Innovations from Bosch and Siemens mark their arrival in the smart kitchen with fully connected products, perfect results and design highlights
The fully connected kitchen living space can also be experienced with the individual BSH brand appearances of Bosch und Siemens at IFA:
One thing will become immediately apparent to visitors to the 2016 Bosch stand – that the "Internet of Things" is becoming reality. Bosch connects the entire household and now covers all product categories with Home Connect, going even beyond home appliances, with Smart Home solutions for the whole house. With these and the other innovations being presented at IFA, the BSH brand is consistently pursuing one goal: to offer consumers "the easy way to perfect results."
The topic of connectivity is a wide arch that spans all the product innovations and staged presentations at the Siemens stand as well: The final gaps in the digital home appliance range are being closed at IFA 2016 with the new connected extractor hoods and cooktops. Appliances will also talk to one another for the first time – thus also initiating development in this area toward the "Internet of Things" and the "Seamless Life".
The two BSH brands have yet another design highlight waiting to be discovered: Cooktops with integrated extractor hood impress equally in terms of technical efficiency and esthetics.
BSH Hausgeräte GmbH is a globally leading company in the home appliance sector with revenue of approximately € 13.8 billion in 2017 and more than 61,800 employees. BSH manufactures its products at around 40 factories and is represented by nearly 80 companies in approximately 50 countries.
